Easy Easter Decorating Ideas

by Misty Martinez

Easter is often left out when thinking of holiday decorating, but since it is also the beginning of the spring season it is a great time to freshen up your home and add some of the lively and vibrant colors of the season.  Here are a few easy and inexpensive decorating ideas to get your home ready for the Easter holiday as well as liven up your home for spring!

Set the Table

A centerpiece for the dining room table is always an easy way to inject holiday or seasonal spirit into any home.  For an Easter inspired table remember to balance color and design.  Colors like pastel blues and yellows are always a great choice, but if these colors clash with your dining room's existing décor, any combination of pastel colors would work.  Using natural décor items is also a good idea for any spring table, and you should consider arrangements of items that symbolize new life.

Holiday Wreaths Are Not Just for Christmas

Adding a spring inspired wreath to your front door or a wall in your home is a creative and inexpensive way to decorate for Easter.  Again, using pastel colors and natural items such as flowers, birds' nests, and eggs can give the wreath a nice touch.  Adding some pastel ribbon, perhaps with white dots or stripes, will give it a finished look.

Add Flowers

An Easter table and home would not be complete without flowers.  Tulips and daffodils are spring favorites and come in a variety of complementary colors to add to a spring décor theme. You can also use lilies, another popular Easter flower, to add a bit more meaning to your arrangement.

Creative Uses for Easter Eggs

Eggs are a staple décor item for the Easter season, but rather than the chocolate variety consider using decorated eggs of different sizes to accent your table or decorations.  Just be sure to purchase the eggs, never taking eggs found in nature.

These are just a few of the many ways you can bring the Easter and spring vibes into your home, but whatever ideas you use, decorating for the season is a great way to truly get into the spirit.

Buying A Home with Bad Credit

by Misty Martinez

Bankruptcy & Foreclosure

If either a bankruptcy or foreclosure is on your credit report, it could take some time before you can qualify for a good interest rate on a mortgage.  FHA loans, which are especially desirable for those with past credit problems and first-time home buyers, are backed by the government and offer a low-down payment and interest rate option for those who qualify.  Although the notation remains for up to 10 years, individuals with a bankruptcy or foreclosure on their credit report may qualify for an FHA loan after two years.  Some mortgage lenders may approve a loan sooner, but the interest rates will be higher, and the required down payment may be as much as 35 percent of the purchase price of the home.

Cleaning Up Your Credit

Even if you have bad credit, it's important to check your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies - TransUnion, Equifax and Experian - before applying for a loan.  If anything is inaccurate, file a dispute with the reporting agency and request a correction.  You can request a free copy of your credit report every 12 months.

In addition to correcting any inaccuracies on your credit report, it's important that you know what can help or hurt your chances of obtaining a loan.  You can start improving your credit by avoiding the temptation to apply for new credit right before submitting a mortgage application.  Multiple inquiries will cause your FICO score to drop, and lenders will rely on this information when deciding whether to issue your loan and how to calculate your interest rates.  With past credit problems, most lenders will want to see that you have rebuilt your credit history with 1-3 major credit cards and timely payments over a two-year period.

Money Matters

When it comes to obtaining a home loan, a healthy bottom line will help the lender to see you as being creditworthy.  It's important that you have sufficient income, along with the ability to prove steady employment for at least one year (longer is better) preceding your loan application.  Most lenders will request a copy of your tax returns for the two most recent years, along with current pay stubs.  If you have money for a down payment, this will also work in your favor.

Creative Financing

In some cases, a conventional mortgage loan may not be available no matter how hard you try.  Owner financing is one way that individuals, who may not otherwise qualify for a traditional mortgage loan, can purchase a home.  This type of financing is offered by the owner and may include interest rates comparable to other loans, flexible down payment options and no credit check.  Your REALTOR® can assist you in finding homes that offer alternative financing options. FIVE FUN AND EASY SPRING CLEANING TIPS

by Misty Martinez

Dance while you dust: This is the perfect time to fully indulge your musical interests; break out the iPod or turn up the CD player, and you'll be singing along to your favorite tunes and won't find cleaning to be a chore at all!

Clear out the clutter: Take the opportunity to dig into the closets, storage spaces, and of course, the garage.  You've probably got a veritable treasure trove of old clutter that's just taking up space-now's the time for a yard sale!  Turn that clutter into cash.

Room by room: Try to focus on just one room at a time, and try to complete one room each day.  This will make the whole job seem more manageable, and you'll probably get things cleaned more thoroughly than if you tried to tackle the whole house at once!

Just a little more laundry: One of the things that we rarely attend to is the state of our draperies, shower curtains, and rugs.  Now is your chance: gather up every spare bit of linen in the house and have it laundered; you'll be surprised at how much brighter your home will look!

A room with a view: It's time to tackle those windows!  Set aside a special day to give your windows a good scrubbing.  Clean off any screens while you're at it: your home will literally sparkle once you're finished.
