Many events take place through the winter, especially during the holidays. One of these is Moody Garden's Festival of Lights. This year marks the eight annual Festival of Lights, from November 14th through January 2nd, 2010. The cool nights and warm days makes this a spectacular event to attend. Santa Claus kicks off the beginning of the event on November 14th by parachuting in to light the winding trail of millions of lights with over 100 lighted displays. This is just the beginning of the entertainment. Besides the 100 sound-enhanced animated light displays, visitors may slip into some skates and enjoy the area's only Outdoor Ice Skating Rink. But the fun doesn't end here. Visitors may have pictures taken with Santa Claus or enjoy the indoor events of the IMAX 3D, Ridefilm, Aquarium Pyramid and Colonel Paddlewheel Boat. The Polar Express 4D returns with interactive special effects like snow, wind and the smell of hot chocolate to engage all the viewers’ senses.
