Moody Gardens
September 23, 2009
When you visit Galveston, Texas one of the first places you should plan to visit is the Moody Gardens complex. The entire complex is perfect for families with many different interests and can accommodate events of almost any size. With 3 huge pyramids holding over 1.5 million gallons of aquariums, an entire rainforest ecosystem, and a discovery pyramid for kids, Moody Gardens has it all.

Known as The Houston area's favorite attraction, Moody Gardens has quickly grown to a top notch entertainment facility. In the mid 1980s, Moody Gardens began with the thought of helping disabled children by rehabilitating them using horse therapy. It also employed handicapped children to give them a chance to adjust to the job place. Moody Gardens began using horticulture to teach and sooth the disabled. The 1980s saw huge growth for the complex as a white sand beach, convention center, and new educational facilities were added. Soon Moody Gardens planned to have youth from all over learn about plants, animals and the environment. In the 1990s the complex opened the pyramids, the first I-MAX theatre, and greenhouses used to propagate the plants for the rainforest pyramid. These plants are also used for medicinal research and purposes. Moody Gardens now stands as the primer vacation destination in Galveston.
