Schlitterbahn Galveston is coming up fast on its two year anniversary. For those unaware of the significance of the name, Schlitterbahn is German for “slippery road.“ They have coined their phrase as “The hottest, coolest time in Texas!“ After a year of anxious anticipation, Texans all over were excited to get to see what Galveston‘s park had to offer! The indoor section officially opened to the public on March 12, 2006 with the summer sections of the water park quickly following; Surfenburg on April 22, 2006, and Blastenhoff in Summer of 2007.
Having a new Schlitterbahn Water Park has drawn customers from all over to Galveston Island. With free parking, free tubes, free life jackets, and the added convenience of being allowed to bring in your own food and drinks, the park is geared towards large families that might not care to spend a lot on food, drinks, and other expenses. There is plenty to keep everyone busy at Schlitterbahn. Hot tubs, slides, and “transportainment” (allows renters to float from ride to ride, instead of walking) are just a few things that make this water park so great.
