It is a family paradise with picnic grounds, observation towers, bird watching and full camping facilities. Evening outdoor entertainment is offered during the summer months as well, which provides entertainment for people of all ages. Nearly two miles of Gulf beach access are available on the seaward side of the park where numerous picnic shelters and campsites are located. On the bay side of the park, located across the highway, overnight shelters and additional campsites are also available. This area of the park offers over 4 miles of hiking and biking trails that wind among the park's lakes and bayous. A public boat ramp is located near the park, where there are freshwater and saltwater fishing opportunities abound. When everyone is ready to go exploring, they can choose from hiking or biking trails, surf fishing for red fish and flounder, or just exploring the great Gulf Coast environs. The naturalist in the group will appreciate the park's wildlife, which features a variety of tidal birds, armadillos, raccoons and other surprising, little critters.
